Door Levers

A home's front door impacts the entire look of its exterior styling. A major feature is the hardware used to open and close the door. Door levers are popular options. They appear modern and bring contemporary flair to your entryway. Before selecting a door lever, it is important to consider the different variations and the items that will work best for your home. At George's Kitchen & Bath, we offer a wide selection. We want to help bring a beautiful appearance and welcoming feeling to your property. A high-end door lever can deliver a custom look to your home. Thanks to the great deals that we offer, you can select an affordable piece that transforms the look of any door.

To learn more about door levers for interior and exterior doors in your home, keep reading as we discuss the different types and designs of levers.

Door Levers for Various Parts of Your Home

There are many doors throughout your house. Each one will have different needs. It is important to consider the units that are best for certain areas of your home.

Keyed Front Door Levers

In general, an exterior home door will require a means of security. Therefore, your front door must possess a secure lock. A keyed front door lever will allow you to feel safe. It may contain a regular heavy-duty lock or may be combined with a deadbolt. Certain pieces have a panic release. To explain, the inside will open whether the door is locked or not. Other keyed entry door levers must be placed into the unlock position to open. However, both can be locked so that no one gains entry from the outside.

Hall/Closet Door Levers

Hall and closet doors do not require locking mechanisms. However, the levers offer convenient function. Sometimes, this type of lever will be used on an exterior door with a deadbolt.

Bedroom or Bathroom Door Levers

Usually, door levers that are placed on bedrooms and bathrooms lock for privacy. These types of locks are not as secure as keyed entry locks. However, they are only meant to hamper people from entering an inside room. The units usually have push or turn buttons on the inside.

Single or Double Dummy Door Levers

Dummy door levers are surface-mounted. They don't contain any type of latch. You can purchase a single lever or a pair. Since there is no way for a youngster to become stuck inside, dummy door levers are a smart choice for a child’s room.

What Direction Do Lever Handles Go?

Since lever handles are available in many styles, you must consider whether you will install it on the right or left side of the door. This ensures that the lever will not be placed upside down. Typically, door levers are made to be installed with the center of the curve facing up. However, the end should face down.

How to Determine the Handling of Door Levers

To determine the handling for a door, you should stand on the outside and look towards it. If the hinges are placed on the right, it is a right-handed door. Oppositely, hinges on the left indicate a left-handed door. Certain door levers are reversible, which means that they will work either way.

Passage Door Levers Versus Privacy Door Levers

A passage lever does not lock. It has a latch that keeps the door closed. This is typically found on a closet door. On the other hand, a privacy latch contains a lock. It is used to maintain privacy in a bathroom or a bedroom. Instead of a key to open the lock, it usually opens with a tiny generic unlocking tool that is inserted into a pinhole that is on the lever.

Door Levers Versus Door Knobs

The most common door hardware options are levers and knobs. Although knobs are standard choices, there are a number of reasons to select levers instead.

Door Levers Designs

Door levers can be extremely plain or more ornate. If you want to keep things simple, it is possible to purchase door levers that appear like straight bars. However, if you want a fancier look, you will find levers in all types of designs. For example, you may find ones that resemble leaves, ribbons, or other whimsical choices.
