Mirrors

Bathroom mirrors literally reflect the personality of their spaces. When you are redecorating of your bathroom, you want to make sure that you choose the best piece. When you select a mirror that fits your decor, you can update the space without spending a fortune. At George's Kitchen & Bath, there are numerous bathroom mirrors available. To help you find the perfect piece, we discuss the size, wall placement, and styles of our many high-end bathroom mirrors.

Sizes of Mirrors

Mirrors come in a multitude of size options. Your choice should be based on the size of your vanity. If the piece is too small, it may become overpowered by other fixtures in the room. However, a mirror that is overly large will bring an unbalanced feeling to the area.

A common rule of thumb is to use a mirror that is one or two inches smaller than the width of the vanity's countertop. Many people choose an item that is flush with the vanity as well.

Width of Bathroom Mirrors

Normally, mirrors should spread approximately three-quarters of the width of your vanity. This prevents creating a "boxy" effect. If you are using sconces, your mirror's width should be even less.

Where to Place Bathroom Mirrors

In most cases, mirrors are hung over sink vanities. However, some rooms have unusual layouts that include windows or other structures that interrupt the flow of the space. When this occurs, you will need to get creative. When necessary, you can fall away from the conventional mirrors that are flat to the wall. For instance, you can use a hook that gives your mirror a floating effect. This adds interest and ensures that your mirror is placed in a good location.

It is best to place your mirror in a space that captures the room's natural light. This means hanging it opposite a window. In a small space, this will create a larger look. In fact, any area that provides convenient use is the perfect spot for your mirror. This means that you should place it at eye level and away from objects that obstruct your view.

Shapes of Bathroom Mirrors

Bathroom mirrors come in a variety of shapes. Most often, they are square or round. If you have a contemporary space, you may opt for unique shape that is out-of-the-box.

Frameless or Framed Mirrors

Frameless mirrors are common in bathrooms. They are affordable and stylish. Also, they provide a contemporary and minimalistic vibe. Frameless bathroom mirrors bring a spa-like atmosphere to any home.

Framed mirrors can be extremely classy. If you want to bring a regal flair to your space, a mirror with an ornate frame will work beautifully. Even a small frame can look quite traditional and can bring a decorative touch into the area.

Using Single or Multiple Mirrors

Besides the style and size of your mirror, you must consider if you will use a singular mirror or more than one piece. Usually, if you have a small space with a single sink, it makes sense to go with one mirror. However, if you have a wider vanity with double sinks, you may prefer to hang multiple mirrors.

When you utilize multiple mirrors, you can place them strategically to make the space appear larger. For instance, you can hang a few tall mirrors, which provides the look of extra height in the space. In some cases, you can select one major centerpiece mirror and use a few smaller mirrors to offset the design.

Use Wall-to-Wall Mirrors

Most bathrooms have wall-mounted mirrors, but a truly dramatic way to decorate your bathroom wall is with wall-to-wall mirrors. When you fill the entire space, you can make the room look double its size. However, this option may be more costly than using single-piece mirrors. Since they must be custom fit for your bathroom, your budget may require something other than a wall-to-wall design.

Consider Function

Electric Bathroom Mirrors

When it comes to mirrors and lighting, an electric mirror includes a light-emitting diode that keeps electricity flowing in one direction so that a strong light shines. In other words, the LEDs within the mirror require electricity to work. The illumination is much brighter than with a conventional bathroom lighting fixture.

Where to Find Quality Bathroom Mirrors

To be sure, some of the most popular bathroom mirrors are rectangular pieces or mirrors with covered edges. Current trends are placing emphasis on borders. Before you select a design, it is important to remember that bigger is not always better. However, quality is a must. At George's Kitchen & Bath, we carry some of the most popular and trusted brands of designer bathroom mirrors. Search our inventory so that you uncover the perfect item for your bathroom needs.
